Two blind bakers.

Fellow blind veteran and I had a happy morning creating 20 delicious apple cakes.  Although Will is a dab hand in the kitchen after his catering training in the Territorial Army, cakes were a different venture.

We used my tried-and-tested recipe and he said, “They’re the best apple cakes I’ve had for years and years.  Just like my mother used to make”.  The difference may have been that we used honey rather than sugar so they weren’t too sweet, allowing the flavours of the apples, dates and nuts to shine through.
