Congratulations to Health Secretary Wes Streeting for deploying extra health teams to some of our most deprived areas. Perhaps he heard my talk last week (scroll to 1 hr32mins for 20 minutes of ideas). Now we need the Chancellor plus the Work & Pensions plus Education Secretaries to catch on too. Did you know that “pupils on free school meals (are) twice as likely to be absent than others ” (click here). Those school absences can inevitably mean lower exam results. That means more difficulty getting good jobs/more chance of having a disability earlier in life.
Investment now can reduce poverty/improve education and help reduce future generations’ disability unemployment peaks. Less cost for everyone.
But don’t forget all those employers who are key players too. They don’t just need workers but also the customers who can pay and make their businesses flourish. Win, Win!
Last year, I responded to the Government’s “Get Britain Working” White Paper with solutions gathered from over 20 years success in the disability back-to-work field. It’s not rocket science! If I can do it, anyone can.
